Why do Partial Dentures work better with hooks?

A partial denture can't always rely on suction and engaging adjacent teeth, especially if dry mouth and lack of tooth undercuts exist. In these cases, hooks (AKA clasps) can be very helpful. A clasp is able to safely grab onto the undercut (bulge) of a tooth and keep the denture in place so that it cant fall out on its own or while you are eating. Although clasps my be slightly visible when you smile, most people wont realize them. Having a partial denture secured in place by clasps will not only give you better function, but will also give you confidence knowing that it wont fall out easily.
